My question is about the wire called "(-) second unlock output" on the door lock harness found on the Viper 791XV, 5000, and other alarms.
Is this wire intended for driver door priority unlock, or is it intended for use on some specific vehicle that requires it?
By driver's door priority unlock, I mean that the first disarm press unlocks the driver's door, then you have to press it again to unlock the passenger side, but both doors lock simultaneously when arming the alarm. Instead of pressing disarm twice, if there is a way to do it with the aux button that's fine.
I thought about putting a diode on the passenger side actuator's power wire, so that power will be allowed to flow to lock the door, but wont be allowed to ground when the direction of flow is reversed as when unlocking. The second unlock output wire is attached to this wire after the diode to provide ground the second time the unlock is pressed.
Now that I think of it, I think the alarm is too smart to send power to unlock the doors the second time the unlock button is pressed. Maybe I can do it with one of the other - channel outputs and the aux button?
I know this feature can be built with relays (somehow) but I'm wondering if the alarm's extra outputs can be used instead. Simple > Complex

What are installing into? Next, what are you talking about? What do YOU have and what do YOU want to do?

It is for use with vehicles that have it if you want to retain the feature. Or you can create it with some modification. It is not neccessary to use it. I prefer pressing unlock once and all doors unlock. I would probably use the second press for trunk release so that my other AUX output(s) can be used for stuff like window roll-ups and other toys.

if you are using a data module for your keyless entry then use this wire and keep the drivers door priority feature... if  not as mentioned most times you wont use it.....

Iskidoo: As I mentioned, I encounter this wire when I'm installing Viper 5000s and 791XVs. The car I most often install alarms on is the 96-00 Civic, but recently I've also put Vipers in Integras, other year Civics, an 01 Chevy Avalanche, and soon I will be doing a 96 240SX and an old CRX.
Can you explain to me how to create the driver priority unlock feature with this output on aftermarket actuators (2 doors)? Does my idea with the diode make sense?

well you know how to use a double relay setup to control the lock and unlock of the aftermarket actuators? I would make 2 set ups like that. Tie one set to the drivers door and the other set to the remaining doors. You can connect the lock input for both sets or relays together and tie to the (-)lock output from the alarm. Tie the driver unlock wire off the relay setup to the driver (-)unlock output. Tie the second unlock output to the relays controlling the remaining doors.
I don't know about the diode setup your referring to. I don't feel like thinking right now. lol sorry.
