I am installing an FAI-8000F with LCD pager.

1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab / Diesel / Auto OD trans / and OEM keyless entry.

1) do I need to disable any OEM keless entry fuction? If so which one of the alarm wires goes to lt-GREEN/ organge (-) ?

2) is the dome timer going to give me any problems?

3) the FAI-8000 directions are very vague and missleading, can you help there too.

a) Fai-8000 (-) ingnition 2 ???? what does it do and where does it go?  I'm thinking ORANGE / black wait to start on firewall connector.

b) door locks... FAI-8000 gives be 4 vague diagams with inadaquate descroptions and doesn't define the function or sensor name of it's connection. Just that 3 are lock and the other 3 are unlock. Can you clearify this. I believe I have the 5-wire reverse polarity type.

4) (+) hand brake SW?  Instructions say to ground it if automatic?

5) alternator (+), Any Bat (+) constant or (+) alternator field.

6) Your diagram for the tach signal says BLACK/ Grey, I connected to Grey/Black at center firewall plugs. Is that correct? I

7) There are 2 ORANGE / Black wires on the same plug... which one will work for a wait to start delay and which FAI-8000  connection should I use?

Many Thanks.

Get a dmm and start testing my good man! You should never attach anywires to anything without testing them first. Do not use a test light in place of a dmm due to it may cause harm to your truck. Now some help...

|       ITEM      |     WIRE COLOR     |POL|       WIRE LOCATION        |

|              12V|red and pink/black  |+  |ignition harness            |
|          STARTER|yellow              |+  |ignition harness            |
|         IGNITION|dk. blue            |+  |ignition harness            |
|  SECOND IGNITION|BLACK/ orange        |+  |ignition harness            |
|        ACCESSORY|BLACK/ white         |+  |ignition harness            |
|       POWER LOCK|ORANGE / purple *1    |5wi|driver door harness         |
|     POWER UNLOCK|pink/purple *1      |5wi|driver door harness         |
| PARKING LIGHTS +|BLACK / YELLOW        |   |drivers kick panel          |
|       HEADLIGHTS|lt. green *5        |-  |steering column             |
|     DOOR TRIGGER|yellow *2           |-  |drivers kick panel          |
|  FCTRY ALARM ARM|arms with lock *3   |   |                            |
|FCTRY ALRM DISARM|lt. GREEN/ orange    |-  |harness from door           |
|       TACHOMETER|BLACK/ gray *4       |   |ignition coil               |
|       BRAKE WIRE|WHITE/ tan           |+  |at brake pedal switch       |
|     HORN TRIGGER|BLACK/ red           |-  |steering column             |
|           WIPERS|RED / blk & RED / yel   |+  |steering column             |
|  LF WINDOW UP/DN|lt. blue - white    |A  |drivers window switch       |
|  RF WINDOW UP/DN|brn/wht - pur/wht   |A  |harness from door           |

Notes:

*1 Keyless models use positive trigger for lock, and 5-wire for unlock. Can also find wires at the central timer module to the right side of the steering column, lock is ORANGE / green, unlock is pink/green.  *2 To avoid dome delay, use tan for the drivers door and BLACK/ lt. blue for the passenger door. Both wires are located at the central timer module to the right side of the steering column. Use both wires and diode isolate each.  *3 Must see a ground on the tan drivers door trigger wire while locking to arm the factory alarm. This only works if the vehicle does not have delayed domelight.  *4 Diesel tach wire is gray/black and diesel wait to start wire is ORANGE / black (-) 'see direct fax document #1090'. Both wires are located on the center of the firewall. There are two black plugs, the wires are in the top plug without the white insert. The tach wire can also be found at the ECM on the passenger side firewall in connector C-1, pin 8.  *5 This wire requires a high current negative, must use relay.

You really don't want to connect the second ignition (-) to the wait to start wire. That could be bad...

1 I DIDNT DISABLE MY KEYLESS IT WORKS AFTER ALARM ISTALL   2.THE DOMELAMP TIMER SHOULD GIVE YOU NO TROUBLE BUT IF YOU HOOD YOUR DOOR TRIGGER UP TO THE DOME LIGHT GROUND AT THE SWITCH YOUR ALARM WILL READ THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN AND NOT ARM UNTIL IT SHUTS OFF AT LEAST IT DID IN MY BROTHERS GRAND CHER.   3.DOOR LOCKS SHOULD BE 5 WAY REST AT GOUND
