I've given up on pin switches on my Viper 791vx. The dumb things keep breaking. If I was to buy a mercury switch such as this one (http://shop1.outpost.com/product/1908343) or the official DEI one since I could get it locally and get my hood secure again, how do I hook it up. I've got the wire in my engine bay that leads to the brain from the pin switch. What gets connected where?
Also, how well do mercury switches work? If I'm parked on a hill or driveway, will that trigger anything or prevent me from remote starting?

Also, what do I do with the n/o lead on the magnetic switch if it isn't being used?

Don't I actually want to connect the NO wire since when the wire is grounded, the alarm thinks the hood is open?

If you keep breaking hoodpins, you need to relocate it as its not in a good spot. It is probably hitting on an angle or something. Not that hoodpins are the greatest, but if they continue to break its the install not the product.

OK, 2 more dumb questions.
My DEI magnetic switch arrived today. First of all, it's all plastic and there's no magnetic attraction between them. Normal?
Second, it has 2 leads. One to ground and one to the alarm?
Thanks

I just got it in the mail a minute ago so havent had a chance to do anything but open the package.
Why isnt there any magnetic attraction between the 2 pieces?
