I'm new to this forum but have spent some time going thru postings to try to find a fix to my problem. I think I just need to confirm I'm on the right track.

Just installed a BOA 165B R/S into my 99 F250SD 5.4L (yeah, I know, I went cheap (the R/S not the truck) but what's done is done!)and everything seems to work fine but when I went outside the other night expecting a nice warm and defrosted truck I found quite the opposite. The truck engine was warm but nothing else was. When I use the R/S the engine runs, tach and radio work but the defroster (heat), running lights don't and I get ABS and AirBag warning lights on the console. As soon as I put the key in and turn it to 'on'  all is fine and back to normal. I know I have 2 accessory wires in my ignition harness from the diagram supplied by BOA (eg Accessory-BLACK/ lt. green & 2nd Accessory-gray / YELLOW)

My question is: Do I need to run a splice from the Orange Accessory 30A wire from the brain to the 2nd accessory wire in the harness and if so do I require a relay for this? If yes, do I then require a relay  for the main accessory wire-BLACK/ lt. green as well?

Appreciate any help. Great forum!

Well when i did my car with the boa system i had to wire in 2 relays because i had 2 starter wires.  you probably have to do the same since you have 2 accessory wires.  If you even still check this i'll go look up my paperwork where i wrote down how to wire it up unless you already have it figured out.  keep us updated.

You were absolutely right. I wired in 2 relays to the 2 starter wires and 'voila', almost everything works. I now have heater operation when I start the truck but the lights don't flash or come on. I attempted to wire another relay as per instructions to the brown wire on this 99 ford f250 super duty 5.4L (because they say this truck's lighting circuit is + and it needs to be -; hence the relay.) But when i hook it up NOTHING WORKS! The truck doesn't start at all. When I remove the relay all seems fine. This is not the most important perk but it does serve its purpose.

If you have any ideas in this regard I would be happy to hear them

P.S. sorry for th belated reply. Work has had me away from my computer for a bit.

Cheers  DS

Sounds like your useing the wrong wire for the pk lites.. truck should be brown at the switch harness. What the boa has ?? a (-) pk lite output??    If it is a (-) output - output to pin 85, 12v to 86 and 30, and 87 to +12v constant. There is no reason for your park lite output and relay config to cause the truck not to start, unless it's wired incorrectly or to the wrong output.

They are joined together of course, 1 relay goes to one accessory wire and the other.... well it goes to the other access wire. This is the diagram I was given and it works fine. I was originally just going to add a relay to the 2nd accessory wire (since the 1st one appeared to be ok) but was advised against it. Now my only issue is with the parking lights not flashing and the Day-Time-Running lights not coming on when the engine is running. BTW - my DTR lights do not stay off if the emergency brakes are applied when the engine is started.

As for the Brown wire at the switch harness, there are 2 of them, right off the switch I mean. I tried both of them to no avail but I will try out your relay instructions above-tks

Thanks again for the replies-DS
