I am planning on installing a starter in a 2003 Envoy, and I will be using the GMDL 1 and the PLDATA.  The PLDATA  looks too easy, and the GMDL 1 looks for the most part straight forward, but I have seen threads on this site that talk about what seemed like glitches in interface, like, parking lights flashing worng, or something else, maybe an extra doo lock pulse.  Has anyone heard of these issues and either know of a solution or what you can do to prevent them altogether?  Do these problems arise because of the install job, or what?

I am also curious about the pink/white and pink wires, they sound like they are only if you are installing an alarm and using the dome light as the trigger, is that right, so if I am just installing a starter then i do not have to worry about them.  And what is the orange panic input wire for?  is that just the horn output from the RS if equipped?

Any other things that are helpful to know before I install this are welcomed.

Thanks

The orange horn wire should only be used if the remote start has a dedicated panic wire. Hooking it up to the horn output will cause the truck to go into panic mode every time you lock/unlock it if the remote starter honks the horn every time you lock/unlock.
The pink and pink/white wires are only needed if doing an alarm.
The extra door lock pulse you hear in the drivers door is normal. Its because a double pulse is needed to unlock all the doors.
