foranyone followingme on this we took our starter relay trigger wire over to ignition trigger and behold it started and did not grind the starter! now you would think that the output on the starter trigger is bad but i have tried three units , what do you think, should i try and run with this i am a little concernedleaving power to the starter wire the full remote start cycle

The Trailblazer does have a feature where the starter won't grind even if you hold the key in the start position for a long time.  I suspect, though, that if you kept this up through the whole remote start process, it'd likely set a trouble code in the car's computer.

Oh, and those test probes still do leak a bit of power through them...... pretty much any GM with a small starter wire seems to take only the slightest bit of power to trigger...... my power probe does the same thing on these cars.

So you're saying that if you ground the trigger input to the Bulldog's starter relay, the car cranks, and the car starts and runs successfully too?  That pretty much would prove that your connection at the starter wire is good, and that your Passlock interface is working properly.

Swapping out the brain for another was a good idea, but you said that had no effect either?  And you tried a new relay in the socket too?

At this point, I'd suspect a break in the starter trigger wire in the harness from the brain to the relay pack, or a poor crimp at the plug coming from the brain, or a poor crimp at the relay socket.

So now, time to first test all four connections at the starter relay for proper function... that's a good place to start anyway.  Make sure terminals 86 and 87 have constant power.  Make sure terminal 30 tests as a starter wire.  I'll bet they are all good, since you can trigger the relay yourself..... but it's good practice to verify those before you go further.

Next, you said that grounding the 85 terminal of the relay cranks the starter.  Now, find that same trigger wire, but find it at the point where it comes out of the remote starter brain....... try ground it from there.... does it still work, or does it not work now?  A bit of careful thought should lead you to the point where the connection is broken.  Once you find it, use your own judgement as to whether you should repair the break, or un-install the entire relay pack and replace it.
