Hello, i am going to be attending installer institute next March or so, and i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the school, good or bad,,,, did you learn a lot, and did it help get your foot in the door?   anything and everything is helpful... thank you.

It's a good school that has shown up in a couple of mags (not just as ads too mind you)

I think it's an alright school. I am a firm believer of hands on work/studies. The only way you can really learn is to do it. So I'm a bit disappointed that it takes 5 weeks to really get into the nitty gritty of things. But the school is in a regulated state, meaning that if they do not maintain a certain standard, the school gets shut down.

I'm more of a fast paced person and I know one thin: coach-ability in life without an ego will get you FAR in life. As such, I recommend The Acoustic Edge Institute in Houston, TX. Roger Hill and the rest of the team there will give you lots of hands on learning and that starts within a few weeks (My class and I were in cars by the third week)

Best wishes

What does the Acoustic Edge cost in comparison to Installer Institute? I was considering going to I.I. sometime within the next few years, but the school in Daytona Beach is a little steeply priced

take this advice from a 40 year old that's been in this business for 20 years...this is a dying trade..cars are more and more difficult to work on...you will most likely never make any real money in this field....if you actully do, you will be trapped at that position...and the next thing you know you will be 40 also.  I would strongly advise that you go to school for something else...You may think you'll be doing something you love right now, but that love dies after awhile and then it's just a job that you end up stuck in.  Anyway...GOOD LUCK!!!
