I have a 1989 Chevrolet Scottsdale 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive that is not getting spark. No power to the coil. Its getting fuel. Distributor cap and rotor have been cleaned. I was driving into the driveway and it up and quit. This truck starts without having to insert the key into ignition, or used to I should say. Truck is very dependable and I use it for work every day. Ignition switch maybe?

There is a pink wire at the ignition switch. This should show 12 volts when key is on, and when attempting to start. If that voltage is not present under BOTH of those conditions then you may have a bad ignition switch.
