I want to run 4 lcd's in my prelude, would it be safe to run the power for all of them straight from a switched power wire from the switch, if not what would be the best?

Use a relay to power up the LCD's through a switch and use a switched IGN source for power so if you forget to turn off the switch , it doesn't drain the battery on you.

Ive never worked with relays before, Can i just buy any relay from my local auto parts store?

Wire a SPDT relay like this:

  • 86: GROUND
  • 85 : Switched Ignition output from car
  • 87 : 15 amp fused Constant Power
  • 30 : Output to all the monitors
  • 87a : NOT USED

This will isolate the power going to the monitors and will keep the power signal clean from other accessories such as wipers, HVAC & radio.
