i am having problems with wavy lines on my 2 headreast lcd's. i have an alpine iva-800 headunit with a 6.5 inch monitor and that screen is fine.  when my car engine is off and a movie is playing through all 3 tv's they are all clear.  when the engine is on the back 2 headrest monitors get wavy.   i am using a blaupunkt dvd player.  any help would be appreciated.

Check that there is no break in the VIDEO input cable as well make sure that the GROUND for the monitors are solid. There is some EMI getting into the video line and is causing the wavy line effect you are experiencing. Has this problem been since the beginning or has it just started ?

this has happend since the begining i have checked the video cables and they seem fine.  i think it is the ground.  the ground for the headrest monitors is connected to the ground for the radio. should i try to find a new ground? thanks jeff

another thing is that the video wire for each monitor is running through the carpet and the power wires are right next to both of them is that why the wavy lines are going through the monitor, because the ground wire is touching the video wires all the way to connectors

  • make sure that the power wires and the RCA/video wires are separated
  • make sure that the ground is as short as possible. Less resistance.

hey thanks jeff.  i already tried to seperate the rca wire from the power wire and it seems to work fine so what i have to do is just hide all the wires and hope everything will work out.  ill post if everything works out, or if i need anymore help

i rewired the rca cables away from the power cables and everything seems to be working fine so that was the whole problem.  i am planning on getting monster video cables so the picture will be really clear.  thanks jeff

Always.....Always run power cables on one side of the car and audio video on the other side.  This will avoid this problem from happening altogether.
