Hey all, this is probably gonna seem pretty lame but i need some advice. I've got a 94' Chevy Z-26 Beretta, with a blue flame interior motif, and I've come into a problem with the neons. I've got two sets of neon tweeter rings, two 6-8in bars underneath the seats, a 15in stick on my rear seat, and two 6x9 ring neons, as well as a radio deck neon. All the neons are either 54 studio or Optix brands. Since they all plug into the cig lighter through an adapter, I cut the adapter off of every neon, spliced them all together (all + in one splice, all - in the other) then took one single adapter and spliced that in so that the lights would plug in all at once. However, on the 6x9's, I spliced in a switch (power, on acc., ground) and spliced positive to the power and on acc, and the negative wire to the ground. That was so I could simply open my middle console and switch off the 6x9 neons if I passed a cop. Now here's the problem - the fuse seems to last while the switch is turned on. The second I turn the switch off, it turns off every neon, and blows the fuse of the plug I've wired everything into. So I then decided, for the night, to take out the 6x9 connection and see how long the fuse would last for running all the other neons. And that lasted for about 45 minutes after switching the car fuse (20) to a (25). Any suggestions? I'm totally lost. I spent hours hiding the dang wires and now they dont even work. Please help!

Well my idea would have been that the adapters had special circuit in them and by putting them all on the same one you somehow changed voltage/amperage available to all the neon causing the problem... also perhaps is there maybe a wiring problem with the switch you added? seeing how when turned off it blows fuse? Seems to me the better idea would be to simply add a multi cig outlet adapter under dash or under seat for all the other plugs. These neons shouldnt draw that much power - do they? Do you have a DMM with ammeter setings to test the draw? too much on your single cig plug to handle all this? if you still want to have a switch on the dual 6x9 rings, just add another cig plug jsut for those that is on a switch... run the outlets, test them with dmm first, then actually plug in neon? Just a thought.
