can running your subs in while they are cold damage them? For example in the winter time around 20 degrees

I wouldn't suggest cranking it hard at first. Let the vehicle cabin and equipement get some warmth before pounding the stereo. If for anything else think of the amps. At that temperature you can get condensation on them (extremely cold metal being heated rapidly), and as we all know water and electricity don't exactly go together Cold weather -- posted image. Let the equipement warm up first. Once that happens, you can pound it until your ears bleed ;)

Depends on the material of the subwoofers. If they have rubber surrounds then it's OK to play them in cold weather ( but just ease off at the beginning ). If they are like Oz subs then do not play them hard at all until they warm up. Oz subs were not made for the cold climate and break easily in cold weather.
