heres a link to a company i found for prefab door pods http://www.aerpro.com/ i pers have a pair of 6 inch door pods that ive sized out to 6 1/2. there is no us dist for these that i could find. i paid around 85$ with shipping. shipping was 35$ i think. these are made or fiberglass and resin. i was very surprized how well they were made. they have many diff types and or price ranges. these would go on the out side of your panel with a little work and paint look nice. mine came with enough room for a 6 1/2 and a 1 inch tweeter. you will have to cut these out i blv they had 5 1/2 etc also. the only bad side was it took 10 days to get to me. these are also angled towards you slightly. all i all not for comp cars. but for the avg jo or mid or entry lvl id rec these all day.

yes they a called speaker spacers. but in my eyes more like a small door pod. these would bolt on from the back side of your panel. they come with pre drilled out mounting holes. depending on your speakers you may still need to drill out a hole for the magnets. the main reason i had to buy these was trying to keep the car as stock as poss and not tear up my panels. i also had an issues with the power windows and the window guide. my cars a 1984 caddy elderado. these older cars do not have alot of room in the doors. hence why a 1984-86 barritz caddy had bolt on door pods with the crappy bose fact system.
