ive been searching for a new system.. im curious if this will be good for every day use and if the amplifier is not too much power for the sub.

orion hcca d5000 amp (1) 5000watts max. 2500watts rms at 1ohm

orion 12'' hcca 12.2 2ohm dual voice coil. 4000watts max 2000watts rms.

new alternator. battery and custom box.

any suggestions or recommendations? or do you think the amp is too powerful for the speaker and is that speaker not good for every day use? i had someone tell me that a competiton spl speaker is not good for every day use but i use to have a competition rockford fosgate power 12 on a 1500watt rms no problem that was years ago

Ya, uh im not a fan of single woofer "systems", my experience leads me to believe that 12" subs dont play highs and mids well. So Id have to say that your system is missing some key pieces.(sarcasm) Opiniarian: thats a lot of power/signal to be broadcast out the face of one 12" sub. Bass heads with little cars may need such a combo. Music listeners need not go there.
This is what I do for FUN!

i would say that what you want is completely unnecessary for music but if thats what you want then i dont see anything wrong with what you have. what kind of car is all this going into? 370Z?

no.. im putting it in my work car cuz i drive it more since i work drive it to the base where i work. which is 800miles from where im from... i leave my 370 at home... i have a 13w7 with a jl amp in the 370

so me and my friends have systems and i want a louder system.. i wish i had a mitsubishi eclipse for a work car cuz my car i have right now has a trunk and there is no way in hell im going to drive my 370 that far especially thru the roads in louisiana...

what do you think about running an spl competition speaker like an orion hcca on a daily basis? the guy above says he doesnt like 1 sub systems.. i dont see why not? i use to run an eclipse back in highschool with a rockfordfosgate beat the asphalt off the street with one sub..

should i use a 2500watt rms orion amp on a 2000watt rms orion hcca sub? or just buy a 2000 watt rms amp to push the sub?

i think he was joking about not liking 1 sub setups but i would rather have just 1 sub. less is more. are you really looking to compete with this setup? like i said, i dont see anything wrong with that system just as long as you can supply that amp with the current it needs to be happy. not sure about that amp but some orion amps wont even power up if you dont have enough current on tap. are you going to stick with the factory radio or do you have an aftermarket already? also what car IS it going into?

oooh, that sucks. because im pretty sure you have a sealed trunk in that acura. i wouldn't get your hopes up about it being really loud in the cabin.

well i had the last system kind of loud.. i have a center console that comes down which allows base into the cabin but i dont know if its enough.. i usually leave it down for the bass.. i actually just blew one of my 12s thats why im in the market again. i was thinking of putting the dampening and all that on trunk etc.

ok, if you have a fold down center that goes into the trunk then thats different. if you want to dampen the trunk also, i dont see anything wrong with it. it might help a little.

i thought about actually taking my back seats out but i dont know if that would be too extreme and make a custom box to fit into the cabin of the car.. what do you think of that idea?
