Using a car audio amp for home theatre

Ok, here's the thing.  I've got an amp and a couple full-range boxes that I want to hook up to my playstation.  I know everything works when it's hooked up inside, that's not a problem, but my only questions are

1.Is there any way to get rid of the hum from the battery charger?

2.Will a 12 volt, 6 amp battery charger be enough power when the volume gets really loud?

Everything else seems to work fine, it's hooked to the audio RCA's from my playstation, with the video RCA (obviously) going directly to the TV.  The ground noise is tolerable when there's music playing, but for the spaces in between songs or when a game's loading, there's always that annoying little hum...any ideas?

First, don't use a battery charger!  They are not designed for continuous loads and generally can't maintain voltage if there are demand surges (like loud music.)  If you really want to use car stereo equipment inside (not something I would normaly recomend, by the way) you will need a 12V DC power supply.  The power supply will have to be able to supply enough current for the amp depending on how many watts of amplifier power you are trying to push.  Some sort of jury-rigged setup with battery charger and alligator clips is just not safe...

A far better solution is to buy a cheap used home stereo receiver or amplifier off eBay and stop trying to use a car amplifier!
