Hey guys I have a kenwood mp3 deck, and recently I've been having a problem. Sometimes when I'm playing a CD, the music just cuts off, but the display in the deck shows that the song is still playing. It eventually comes back on though. A friend of mine said it could be a loose wire behind the deck. When it cuts off, I raise up the volume and hear a weird noise that sounds kind of like interference. It's difficult to explain, kind of like a high pitched buzzing noise. Sometimes this happens when I go over a bump. Could this be a defective deck, or a wiring problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

It is in the wiring, the display is showing that the deck is still working. Has to be speaker output wiring. Pull the deck and reconnect the speaker wiring. If you used a harness press the connections firm. And reconnect at the speakers. The noise you describe hearing is most likely present also when the music is on, but is not heard over the music. Make sure the ground is good or change the ground location if the noise becomes audible with regular music volume.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Maybe it is a crappy mp3. I have have a friend that downloaded some mp3s, sure, that do exactly what you talking about. It just interrupts the song with a high pitch squeel right. Chances are it is the mp3 and not the radio. Check the song on your pc and see if it still happens.

Yeah I forgot to mention that it mentions when I play regular CD's as well. So i've tried different CD's.

first.... does this anomoly occur only when playing discs or does it cut out listening to the radio as well? if it only cuts out on disc then it is NOT a wiring problem in the vehicle, as the wiring doesnt differenciate whether you are listening to radio or disc... at this point you have to look for probable causes.... does it only cut out when the bass is hitting hard? is the unit losing focus due to the concussion generated by your subs? no? is it cutting out at relatively the same point on each disc, as in the worm gear/ sled assy jamming slightly in the unit... any number of possiblities to look at....

if it is cutting out on radio as well as disc then indeed meter your speaker wiring for a potential pinch or short....

but hey, what do i know?
