Hey everyone. I'm new here and have a few questions no one seems to be able to anwser.

I have a 2004 Silverado w/o Bose or OnStar. I do however have the steering wheel controls for the stock head unit. I have a basic AM/FM CD player that came in the truck.  My plan is to install my Pioneer Premeir DEH-760MP from my old truck into this one. What all do I need to do this AND retain my steering wheel controls? Is it even possible? I see something about a Metra VTGMRC01, from what I can tell it retains the door chime (which I could'nt care less about) but mentions nothing about retaining the steering wheel controls.

So what I need is a PN for an install kit, wiring harness, and something to retain the steering wheel controls if possible. Other than that I should be good to go. I plan to install my complete system this week. Everything except for the HU is AudioBahn. I no they are not top of the line, but I'm no audiophile and just want something a better than stock. Components for the front and rear (running the rear in a coax setup) and a single 10" under the rear seat all run by a 6 channel amp.

Thanks for any and all help.

Brad

Hi tpiwb, here's a steering wheel control interface from Peripheral Electronics that may work with what you have: http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/steering.asp

You can look up Metra part numbers for installation kits and harnesses here: https://www.the12volt.com/wireinfo/metra.asp
