1999 Mercury Mystique

Installing a CD deck, I have a wiring diagram but when I connect the front speaker wires together... all the speakers go out.. so at the moment i'm riding around with only the rear speakers working but i want all 4 to play... theyre good speakers, but somethings wrong in the wiring (at least thats what i think) If anyone has an answer or suggestion, please feel free to help me out.

Thanks,

craig

It sounds like its going to ground. Try hooking up one speaker in the front at a time and find out which side is the problem? I had a Taurus do this last week, it played fine with factory hu but as soon as the aftermarket one was in nothing. Right rear was blown. I am not to sure why it played off the factory hu, but would shut the aftermaket one off (no sound). If your 100% sure the speakers are good maybe the speaker wire is grounding out somewhere?  Did you use a harness to plug into the cars harness?

yeah, i started with a wiring harness, and speakers didnt play, so thats when i went to straight wire to wire. and i believe its the right front speaker causing this problem.
