Hey Guys,

I found the fourm while looking for a solution to my problem. I have a 2000 Subaru Forester that had an old Car starter that was working but the range sucked. I have purchased a new Autostart 2451TW and installed it after removing the other unit. All went well I thought, but I can not get the car to start with the remote starter. When I try to start it I can hear it crank but that is all, it does that 3 times then stops. If I get in the car and use the Key I have no problem. I originaly had the Tach wire installed and had tried the tach programing but that didnt make a change, I removed the tach wire after reading the fourm but that still didnt help. Any advise on what I could look at or where to start would be great, thanks and Merry Christmas.

i assume you removed the bypass kit that was original bypass module that was in the car, OR you left it there, but didnt connect the ground out when running (status output on some units), to the bypass activation wire.

I do believe the Canadian version of that car does NOT require a bypass? Maybe huh? This is how Astroflex (DEI of Canada) lists the car.

The car has no security system in place that need to be bypassed.  I just had the car running for a bit so it was warm and when I turned it off I tried to start it with the starter and it did work this time. Why would this happen?

well place the key into the ignition, dont turn it or anything. just let the key sit in the ignition then try to remote start it. If it does remote start with key, then thats a sign that you have a immobilizer.

Should try to do another tach programming while the engine is warm & reach engine idle speed.
