hey guys
in the market to buy a car alarm + remote start system for my 2001
toyota 4runner.
looking at clifford matrix 2.2 vs. viper 5601 vs. phython 1601
they all seem to be the same thing, and around the same price.
any advantage buying one over the other? place to buy?
thanks!

I personally think the brand and the looks. Ive deal with all 3 and same stuff on all of them. I would go with viper and to make it even better add the DEI 516L.

Just had that discussion with a customer yesterday.
I am starting to handle some Python, but the customer insisted he wanted a Viper.
I wound up having to show him that the model numbers are the same only one ends in a "v" and the other in a "p" to get him to understand.clifford vs viper vs python? -- posted image.

I have the Clifford 3.3 Matrix, it is an awesome unit and you can add stuff on also, like window roll up or garage door remote....

Well one more nail in the coffin.... Clifford, Viper, and Python are all the exact same product.  They have the same features, same programming, same wiring harnesses, but different receivers for the remotes.  The difference in the receivers is the frequency and coding they pick up, so the ranges are all the same.

The only line from DEI that is slightly different is the Clifford G5 line.  It is still manufactured like the old Clifford line so it's slightly different.

Ya, you can do that with many other brands also.
Scytek is now doing GPS tracking.
I think they are working on using your cell phone's bluetooth to arm/disarm your system.
Audiovox has the Car-link phone interface.
Crazy stuff.
