Installing a prostart and ads-dlsl in a silverado. Both the remote (yellow wire) and the ads unit (pink) require ignition hookup and suggest the same wire from the (pink) from the ignition harness. Is this correct or is the wire not used?

another question..i was going to do a type 3 install but an installer at crappy tire told me he does type 2 installs on these without the induction ring..told me to do that...fact or fiction?

I don't understand the "remote(yellow wire)" part of your question, is that the ignition wire on the Prostart? The ADS pink needs ignition, which is pink at the switch. Your RS igntion wire needs to connect here too. Follow the Idatalink instructions to a tee and it'll work fine. There is a note on the type 2 page telling you you must connect igntion and accessory from your RS unit.

You have it backwards, 2 is with the ring. The difference is the current draw at idle, 2 draws 7ma and 3 draws 30ma. If you want a dead battery after you let your truck sit for a few days use type 3. I ALWAYS install type 2 with the ring....

perfect..thanks..you answered it..yes, ps has a yellow wire to ignition as well..so two wires to ignition...and yes, the crappy tire installer told me he does type 2 with no ring and it works..even described hooking the interface to teh obd2 wire...claims he does it all the time

What are the astericks denoting on the following wires, for the ADS-DLSL module?

*TACH (AC) OUTPUT - PURPLE / WHITE
*DOOR STATUS (-) OUTPUT - GREEN
BROWN / RED - GROUND*
BROWN / YELLOW - HOOD (-) OUTPUT*

Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
