I'm installing a Prostart CT-3371 in a 1990 Ford Ranger 2.9L Manual Trans. I'm having an issue with the tach signal. I was going to take the signal from the coil but the voltage is too high (28-32 VAC). I then decided to take the signal from the injector, again the same voltage. I'm a bit confused by this. Would someone be able to clarify what the issue is here? Thanks

It should be any of the uncommon wires at any one of the injectors! Also just a side thought are you sure that specific vehicle is fuel injected!

yes the truck is fuel injected (EFI), but what voltage should I be reading at the injector? Because it is the same at the coil.
thanks

Yes I know which wire it is. What I want to know is why is the voltage reading there so high? The injector wires are red & white or tan, and the voltage there is too high also.

The answer is simple! You have the wrong wire! At all the injectors there should be a wire that is odd, this would be your wire. Also why i asked if you were sure about it being fuel injected, is because locally, our ford rangers come stock with diesel engines!
