my 98 cavalier has an allpine sec-8027 alarm previously installed, i just installed a remote start bulldog rs82b seemed to be working good. then i set the alarm and remote started the car. turned off the alarm and now the car won't start with the key or the remote start. there is a remote toggle switch under the dash spring loaded. Is my alarm locking out the ignition? how do i reset it. and what is that toggle switch for. please help
Thank you
marty

look in your dash and see if the SeCURITY light is flashing. if it does, then the passlock is in tamper mode and locked. do you have a starter or ignition kill wired up?

I found no lights on the dash flashing, I did find the led on the remote starter was on. I cycled the alarm a few times and no parking lights were flashing and no beep sound to indicate the alarm on/off mode. I pushed the disarm switch (toggle under the dash) and was able to start the car. The light on the remote start went out while the car was running. now all seems to be working fine. The remote start should have locked out the alarm (I think)
Was there a timeout on the ign. sys from the alarm?
Did the toggle switch reset the ign.? If anyone knows exactly what happened Please explain this to me. I need to find the manual for the alpine unit.

it must be some starter/ignition kill from the alarm or rs unit. what brand and model is the remote start?  did you wire or notice any relay that was already there prior to installing the remote start?

There is a security light (theft) light flashing while the starter is locked out , is there a timed lock out of the system ? how long is it ? I will go check it again and see if it is still flashing, i hope the lockout timer doesnt start over when i open the door to check it.

lockout is 10 minutes. place key in the ignition, turn it on and leave the door open.
