I've noticed a few posts recently on vehicles running for 5-15 secs. then cutting out after installing a remote start.
There is one simple answer to this.
TACH hasn't been recognised!
Either by a bad or non-existent connection or not properly programmed (learned).
Even on those units that give you a choice of voltage or tach, use tach because it's more accurate.
Two points to remember:-
a)If it starts and runs for any length of time, you've wired the R/S inc. by-pass correctly.
b) Let the engine warm up running for a few minutes before programming the tach.

We have had an issue sometimes in the winter with Toyota products not starting correctly. It seems Toyotas like to idle very high when cold(i had one Thursday that idled at 2200rpms) and the RS will think it's over reving and shut off. To fix this we simply hold the rpms a little higher while learning tach....

Your right, I couldn't remember to either let the idle settle down or increase idling speed!
Have you sorted that BMW yet?
