Hey Guys,
I did a self install of a Viper LE 5701 on a 1999 Chevy Silverado (Automatic Transmission) and it went well. Alarm ARMS and DISARMS. Doors LOCK and UNLOCK. All TRIGGERS work including the HOOD TRIGGER. Lights Flash properly.
The remote start is not working. I think it is the Neutral Safety Switch (on/off Toggle Switch). Where does this go? It was in the package but installation instructions are unclear where to connect it (diagram shows one wire to a lead on the module).
Right now, when I activate the REMOTE START the system "clicks" and the parking lights blink as if it is signaling to start but the STARTER does not engage. The Toggle Switch is NOT connected to my system at this time (cause I don't know where it goes)...is this the problem with remote starting?
My truck will start with the key.

Oh! I forgot, I couldn't get the remote to accept the tach signal. I'm sure this is a problem too! I tapped into the tach signal at the dash board tachometer. I used a multi-meter to identify the right wire (beige w/white stripe).
thanks guys...

Did u use a bypass. Does it have a key flashing on the dash when u remote start it. Does the car start then shut down or does it not crank at all. Also for the neutral safety switch if u want to use the switch one side goes to black and white of the remote start the other goes to ground but if u ground the black and white wire then u dont need the switch but u should use the switch

toggle switch MUST be plugged in and set to on....

what brand/model of bypass module did you use?

did you program it for automatic tranny?

Thanks guys for chiming in...
I didn't use a bypass...it didn't come with the kit I got. No key flashing (not even the external Valet switch). The BLACK/ white wire is grounded. RS does NOT start at all...it just clicks as if it wants to start but the starter didn't engage.
Didn't know about a separate bypass module. Is it possible it's internal? I was insured by warranty everything was included to completely operate this alarm/RS system.
I will install the toggle switch. Does both leads go to the module (between the RS IN and the Tach Threshold) or one there and one to ground?

The toggle switch should have a black plug at the end of the wires. Yes, it plugs into the brain between the R/S in plug and the Tach Threshold jumper.  There is a install guide in the downloads section of this site for the Viper 5701.  If you didn't install a bypass you will need one.

no the bypass is separate. You can use the bypass DLPKGM. Since the car needs to see a chip to start it will not engage. There are a few other bypasses u can use just go to xpresskit.com and it will show u what bypasses u can use.

@ Smokeman1: Thanks. The toggle switch did NOT have the black plug at the end (just bare wires) so that confused me. I got the install guide from THIS site and used it. Somehow I missed the part about the bypass. it doesn't show it on the last page (diagram). I'll go read it again.
@ pitoaudiovisual: Ah! So the control module is NOT self-sufficient. The instructions I downloaded mentioned NOTHING about a BYPASS being needed. I'll go read ALL 90 pages again while I wait for the BYPASS to come in the mail...
That's why YOU guys are the PRO's...thanks for ALL your help. You guys are AWESOME. I have much MORE respect for you after tackling this install. You are well worth your weight in GOLD!!!

The last page won't show a bypass. Some vehicles do not require one.  My 2008 Ford E150 for example. Page 47 shows a Blue (-) 200ma status output for whatever bypass you get.  I have used the Fortin brand with great results. Just need to pay attention to what wires go were on the vehicle and remote starter.   www.ifar.ca  for their website.   You could probably go to ebay and search for a dei toggle switch to see if you can find a toggle switch with a plug at the end. Or maybe on with a push button, cut off the plug and solder it to your toggle switch.

Thanks Smokeman1...I bought the DLPKGM last night and I pick it up today. I'll pick up a plug for the toggle switch on my lunch break today. I'm between 3 Fry's Electronics Stores here in Southern California so no problem there.
The install looks pretty simple so I'll install it this evening and post back to let you guys know how it went.
Thanks for your professional help.
