I'm aware that the Grand Am uses GM single wire door lock system and I know to use the 1500 ohm resistor. I've got an upcoming 2000 Grand Am Remote Entry system. It's for a young neice and I would like to be able to implement 2 stage unlocking. It appears from the posts and the Grand Am wiring diagrams that I will not be able to do this. From what I can glean from the Web posts, diagrams, and the Grand Am factory wiring diagrams, it appears that it a lock all or unlock all scenario. I haven't investigated a work around. I would like to poll the vetrans first. Has anyone encountered this before? Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

You can go straight to the motor legs of the driver's door and grab the TAN wire that will control the unlock only of the motor. Tie the UNLOCK wire of the KE unit to the motor and then use the AUX channel for the unlocking of the passenger side by using the single door lock wire.

There is also a computer on the passenger side underdash where you can get the lock/unlock/ and driver door priority unlock wires, no resistors needed. Offhand I think the colors are blue, white, and yellow in the pink plug BUT that really is a guess so don't quote me on that. I don't bring my wiring info books home for the weekends so I don't have exacts and haven't done enough of them to have it memorized. I can double check next week or you can take Jeff's advice I'm sure it will work out fine.
