I posted something earlier about a subaru compustar problem, well I looked into it further and found that when you try and start the car with the remote, there is no power coming from the starter wire on the brain. i have tested all the connections everything is normal, nothing seems out of the ordinary except that fact that no power comes from the starter wire. any ideas?

some alarms have a specific 12v wire that needs to be powered up and this allows 12v to be output on the starter wire.  it will engage in remote start..just no output on the starter wire so its not a shutdown issue.  look for a wire that needs to be powered up and maybe its a tach problem.  i  went thru a hell of a time with an 05 econoline where the alarm didnt like the tach and it wouldnt output starter voltage.  i had to run it tachless.

What wire are you testing for the output on the relay for the starter disable ? Make sure that it's the YELLOW wire that you are using ( not the YELLOW/BLACK ).

I have yet to see one Compustar brain dead out of the box. Meter the two constant power lines going into the brain, the red and red white. Both lines must have power in order for the brain to send +12v out the start line. Add to that what Jeff said, test the start wire on the molex at the brain or test it on the yellow wire at the relay.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Just to add to what Rob stated,I have installed hundreds of 1WAMS systems from Compustar and countless 8000 FM systems as well with only 1 !WAMS system where the ACC relay was burned out after a couple of months of use. Aside from this, we have had 0 as far as bad units. If I were you I would contact First Tech and tell them about your supplier giving you crappy units all the time or get on the horn with First Tech and do some first hand customer complaining and see if you can get some support from them.
