Hi all. I am having a problem with a 2002 Trailblazer, not installed by me.
Vehicle is a 2002 Trailblazer LT – Keyless entry
Viper 550ESP, w/
555L Passlock Bypass, and
455G Door Lock Data Bus Interface
The “Service Engine Soon” light coming on when after engaging remote start. There are also tranny problems when “SES” is lit. The problem is corrected by disconnecting battery for 10 min.
It seems all but 1 wire were correct. First the pink/white from the satellite relays was connected to the Factory ORANGE / 300/Ignition 3 Voltage, not the WHITE/ 1390/OFF-RUN-CRANK Voltage.
I corrected the Pink/White and placed it on the WHITE/ 1390/OFF-RUN-CRANK Voltage. However, the vehicle will not start.  The Instrument Guages register a Poaer drain for a split second and then the "SES" and "Service 4x4" lights illuminate, all the accessories are on. When you signal system via Remote to turn off all accessories turn off and vehicle will start normally with key (no Service lights)
What are the correct settings for the 550ESP for this vehicle?
Thanks for all your help!!!

Take it back to where it was installed.

The installer didn't wire up the WHITE 2nd IGN wire at first and wired in the ORANGE accessory wire. What you have to find out is if the wire that went to the ORANGE wire is indeed set for 2nd IGN. If you have a 2nd IGN wire output on the remote starter unit, use it to power up a relay or if it's a (+) output, then use the wire directly tot he WHITE wire.

Basically there are 5 main power connections for the vehicle that MUST be connected in order for the remote start to start the vehicle properly:

  • RED - Power
  • PINK - Ignition
  • WHITE - 2nd Ignition
  • ORANGE -  Accessory
  • YELLOW - STARTER

Make sure that each of these wires have a connection to the remote starter and that the proper wires from the remote starter are going to the vehicle.

Jeff:

Thanks for the info... I got it rewired now properly,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

R/S PINK

to
FACTORY PINK/1/IGNITION 1 VOLTAGE (PIN C6 - Column Harness)
R/S ORANGE
to
FACTORY BROWN / 4/ACCESSORY VOLTAGE (PIN B6 - Column Harness)
R/S PURPLE
to
FACTORY YELLOW/5/CRANK VOLTAGE (PIN C1 - Column Harness)
R/S PINK/WHITE
to
FACTORY WHITE/ 1390/OFF-RUN-CRANK Voltage (PIN D1 - Column Harness)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

however now it does not want to start (using Remote Start). I detect a power drain and it seems that the Remote starts thinks its running.. Accessories are on, as well as the "SES" and "Service 4x4" Lights are on, but I think thats because the vehicle is in run w/o the engine running.

Although hooked up totally wrong (and horrbily bad for the vehicle).. the remote start started the vehicle when hooked up to ORANGE / 300/ignition 3 voltage (as it was wired before)

Could it be the Passlock Interface (555L) or could it be a setting on the 550ESP?

Thanks again for all your help!!!

Whe you say that it doesn't want to start, do you mean that it doesn't even attempt to crank over ? Does it start and then shut down ?

Also, I'm looking at the wiring diagram for the Viper 550ESP and I dn't see any reference to a Pink/White wire anywhere ? I have a PINK wire that is suppose to go to the relay for the 1st & 2nd IGN of the vehicle as well, there is a YELLOW ignition INPUT wire that your suppose to hook up to an ignition source. Also, the ORANGE wire from the 550 unit is suppose to go to the accessory relay and the output of the accessory relay should go to the ORANGE wire on the vehicle, not the BROWN wire.

Jeff:

Page 15 of the 550ESP install manual. (the Ribbon cable pictured on the wiring diagram on the last page is wired directly into the Relay Satellite – R/S) and the wires coming out of the R/S are listed on pg 15.

It took me several mins to figure that one out….

I will recheck the wires again and see about the orange wire…

It was late last night and I was at it for like 10 hours… checking everything.

Jeff, thanks again for all your help!!!!!!! U R a lifesaver!!!

Jeff:

I forgot to answer your question in the last post... The vehicle does not crank. however you see the guages flicker like it is trying to start, then all the accessories turn on as well as the "SES" and "Service 4x4" lights. When you cancel via remote everything turns off.

This is how it is wired right now

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

R/S PINK

to
FACTORY PINK/1/IGNITION 1 VOLTAGE (PIN C6 - Column Harness)
R/S ORANGE
to
FACTORY BROWN / 4/ACCESSORY VOLTAGE (PIN B6 - Column Harness)
R/S PURPLE
to
FACTORY YELLOW/5/CRANK VOLTAGE (PIN C1 - Column Harness)
R/S PINK/WHITE
to
FACTORY WHITE/ 1390/OFF-RUN-CRANK Voltage (PIN D1 - Column Harness)

I'll try disconnecting the RS Orange from the Factory Brown and hooking the RS orange to Factory Orange..

I'll let you know...

Thanks AGAIN!!

I see it now. I was looking at just the main wiring diagram for the 550 on page 52 and it doesn't show the relay bank wiring. Post your results and also please answer the question that I had about the starter because this will help determine if it's a Passlock isue or just a wiring issue.

Rewired to RS Orange to Factory ORANGE / 300/IGNITION3

Upon Remote request:  Hear Relays click... No Crank, No Accessory power, "SES" Light on

Upon Remote cancel: Retained Power Accessories work until door is opened.

Jeff:

I should say that Accessories are OFF until I cancel the Start request.....

--------

Prior to the change you suggested (To answer your earlier Question) The vehicle did not crank. however you see the guages flicker like it is trying to start, then all the accessories turn on as well as the "SES" and "Service 4x4" lights. When you cancel via remote everything turns off.
