keyless entry install on 97 f150

I’m installing a BOA 265b in my truck. Hooking up the remote start was relatively painless and all tests are good. I cannot find the unlock motor wire for the keyless entry. I originally hooked up through the switch wires but all I got was a click from the brain.

The Directed tech guy I called said I have everything hooked up right but to the wrong wires. Told me to find the pink/black lock and RED / orange unlock motor wires in the drivers kick panel. I have searched every loom and have even gone as far as searching through the main bulkhead on the firewall with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did u hook up relays for the 5 wire locks?  Do u  have your relays correct?

according to the application there is no need for relays. i bit the bullet and started probing every wire i thought may be suspect. found one pink and orange wire that gave me 12v when i unlocked the doors but didnt kill the door locks when i cut it.  i still went with it and the pink and black which gave me 12 when i locked the doors.

heres the kicker. after hooking everything up tests where good but only for the driverside door. lock unlock all day long. just for the heck of it i reversed the close/output wires on each. everything works on the passenger side.

what the heck am i doing wrong? i know im not the brightest bulb when it comes to electrical but this little project is starting to tick me off.

I got everything workin' no thanks to the derected people. Called them up to ask what the hell was going on and after being put on hold for about 10 minutes i got this reply:

"umm... your gonna be pissed at me bro. i'm sorry i gave you some wrong information the other day"

i got everything hooked up and working fine. If any one successfully gets better range out of this thing please let a brother know. I only get about 35 feet as it sets. I guess you get what you pay for.

I'm thinking you DIDN'T get what you paid for....isn't that viper piece kinda spendy...??

DEI, you either love em or hate em....me, I'm NOT a fan!

$30 delivered.

It does what i want but lacks in the range. Is there any other DEI systems (Viper, Rattler, etc.) that use the same harnesses as the boa and has better range. I would love to be able to plug one in and go about my life like none of this ever happened.

If not, what would be a good keyless entry/remote start system out. i dont care if it has security.

Im not sure what the resistance is. The ground wire coming from the unit is only 18 gauge wire. Seems kind of small to me. I did use an existing bolt to ground the system out. I will tap my own ground this evening just for good measure.

I know there are other DEI remotes that are compatible with this system. Is there a chance that one of those will send out a stronger signal than the boa or are they all about the same?
