Getting ready to do a remote start on the old work truck...just wondering if even my totally stripped down 2001 4 cylinder S-10 without power locks/windows or any other options is equipped with the passlock II. I don't know much about it, but it seems like w/o keyless entry or something in my key (like a chip or resistor), there'd be any way to disarm a factory alarm.

All 1998 and newer GM trucks, both full size and smaller have Passlock II. Passlock II is only an immobilizer and not an alarm. If the vehicle doesn't have factory keyless entry, then it won't have a factory alarm. You will require a interface module for the Passlock II system.

Yes, it will have PASSLock. One of the run trucks they have at my work is a '98, and it has it, so surely the 2001 must.
But anyway, to verify this, simply turn the key to Run and watch all the lights on the dash...... one of them will say SECURITY.
