Hi all,

Just wondering if this happens to anyone eles.  I installed Viper 791xv on 98 nissan 240sx. I have the climate controls set so when i remote start car the heater will warm up the car.  When using RS while the starter is cranking the heater turns off (like when you start the car with key) and then turns on again once the car starts. However when i put key in switch and hit the brake so i can take over, the heater again turns off and then turns on, is this normal? Has this happened to anyone eles? I isolated the acc wire with a relay as follows:

  • BLUE -200mA status out from relay satellite to pin 85
  • 12v fused to pin 86
  • key side acc wire from vehicle to pin 87a
  • dash side acc wire from vehicle to pin 30

Is there another way to wire relay where even when i take over after RS the heater doesn't turn off and on, so it just remains on?  Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Okay, here's what's happening, and what you can do.
---What's happening: The blue/black "status" wire triggers a little bit early, before the remote starter actually turns on the ignition. It also shuts off late.......whether you kill the RS by the brake pedal, remote, or it just times out, the status wire stays on a little bit longer.
So, as you hit the brake, your orange ACC output from the remote starter goes dead......but the relay stays on for a little bit, interrupting the factory ignition wire.
---What to do:
I believe the DEI system has, in addition to the "status" output, a solid blue "ignition 3" output.
Take the status wire away from the relay, and use the ignition 3 wire to trigger it instead.
Now, as soon as you hit the brake, the ignition 3 wire will immediately shut down, which turns off the relay, allowing the car to operate normally.

Thanks Chris,

I'll give it a try and post the results, however for the mean time having it the way I have it shouldn't cause a problem, rite? thanks again!

Hello again,

Just a follow up on the original post. I finally got around to work on this issue and everything works good.  I wired it according to Chris' suggestions as follows:

  • PINK -200mA status out from relay satellite to pin 85
  • 12v fused to pin 86
  • key side acc wire from vehicle to pin 87a
  • dash side acc wire from vehicle to pin 30

Thanks again Chris.

I also installed the 530T and got the basics up and functioning. (It was a time-consuming job since running the wires from the door to the driver kick panel is very tight) Next up is adding a piezo siren and 2nd double guard shock sensor.
