My Dad has a 99 F-150 Harley Davidson edition with, what I am assuming is, a factory keyless entry. Possibly an alarm. He lives in CA and I dont so I cant take a look. His key fob is a ford model though. Recently his truck would not start with the key. It will turn over but not fire. He just discovered that the dash/ turn signals flash when this is happening. I thought maybe it is caused by the factory security, or keyless entry system. Any help is greatly appreciated. If there is a way I can have him disable he would apprciate it, untill I make a trip to visit and repair it.
Thank you in advance,

sounds like he has an aftermarket alarm in there that is armed with starter-kill?

try getting him to take a look under the dash, if there is an alarm, tell him to just pull the brain out. or disconnect the main power harness. that should reconnect starter kill.

If it is an aftermarket system then it's wired for ignition kill not starter kill because the starter would not crank at all if it was a starter kill. First off is I would check to see that the THEFT light is not flashing fast when the key is in the ignition and the starter is engaged. If so , then you have a PATS issue with either the key or the PATS itself.

my mistake, i didnt notice where it said that it cranks and doesn't turn over. If your dad has a spare key, tell him to try using it. I've seen transponder keys loose memory before and stop working. it's very rare but i've seen two or three before that lost their memory.
