I need to know where I can connect my aftermarket amplifiers turn on lead. Is there a factory amp turn on lead that I can splice into?

Ok. D-Day is tomorrow, Feb. 02.   Still no suggestions? I've come down to either paying out my rear for the install, or using a test light to find a switching power fuse in the fuse box, and going that route. Somebody please help.

There is a white wire at the amp in the trunk or at the radio that is used to turn on the amp. It is a 12 volt + trigger. I hope this helps.

Can anyone confirm this?? Sparky, I'm not questioning your information, but I've been told by a couple of people that this white wire does not provide enough of a signal to turn the amp on. Also, I want to make absolutely sure that I am splicing into the right wire, especially with the risk of deploying my air bags or frying my whole electrical system.

It works. If you are really that concerned then cut the white wire before it gets to the amp and use it to trigger a relay to turn on both your amp and the factory one. Use a volt meter to check that you have the correct white wire. The correct white wire is in cavity B5 of the larger plug in the amp. It is also used to turn on the antenna module.

Sparky,

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS which has a factory amp in the trunk, and I believe it's the same one as the Impala. Earlier (before finding this forum) I verified that the 5th pin in (B5?) is the turn-on lead. It read 10.7v so I can understand why it may not be sufficient for some products. Do you have the pinout of that whole plug? I would really like to tap the line level signal from the (factory) HU, rather than getting a LOC.

I'd appreciate your (or anyone's) insight.

Thanks.
