Would a Kenwood deck (DDX8017) be compatible with Eclipse Amps and rear camera? Or should I have them all replaced with Kenwood brand amps and accessories? Right now I have an Eclipse AVN5495 that was used to replace 2 defective Eclipse AVX2404s.
I did extensive modifications to my truck so that I could have 5.1 DTS sound but the AVN5495 sound quality sucks when used through a high end system that has separates, a center channel, and subwoofers. Although I've heard people praise it when used with their stock system.
If anyone has made this switch or knows if it can be done please post in. Thank you, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Eclipse center channel speaker
Vizualogics 9" headrest (x2)
3 Eclipse amps (f &r separates, subs, and center)
Xbox
Eclipse backup camera

the kenwood would work fine with what you got I personally would keep your eclipse amps. cleaner and better amps then kenwoods. what kind of sound were you getting from the avn5495. eclipse has always had good clean decks. I have the xxv-v05 from kenwwod love allthe different settings on it almost the same as 8017 for features except 05 is din and has tv tuner with it.

The Eclipse AVN5495 tries to produce a 5.1 sound with regular stock speakers (http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn/a-v.html see:Circle Surround II) So when played through a high end install (that includes individually amplified separates in the front/rear, a center channel, and a separate sub) the sound becomes muddied with the AVN5495 TruBass tech. It does not have a center channel output because it can not decode 5.1 or DTS so movies and music videos sound like its in FM stereo.
It's strange that Eclipse's top of the line and most expensive model is not meant to be used in high end installs. Neither is it worthwhile to be put into automobiles that are already equipped with an OEM DVD/NAV.
I think Kenwood (correct me if I'm wrong) is the only reputable maker that offers a double din with a 5.1/ DTS decoder. Because of my H2's layout a single din with fold away screen will not fit properly.
ps: Is that hawn13 = Hawaiian 13?

iwas doing alittle more research. do have the eclipse dcu-105 in your system? that might be the way to go if you like your deck. they don't have it on the eclipse web sight but if you down load the 05 catalog its in there. hope this helps.

thanks Hawaiian,
the DCU-105 won't work with my deck only their new fold out decks and their older encoder/processor won't work either.. my installer told me that he was waiting for the Eclipse rep. to come back from CES.. I've been having problems with my install for over a year. Customer service and satisfaction isn't Eclipse Fujitsu-Ten's main priority.
Thanks again.

sounds like to me you have a rep problem or who ever sold you your system didn't qualify what you wanted out of it. I live in MN right now and use to work for a small shop up here that carried eclipse and our rep was great. right now i am working for Circuit and we are getting eclipse and have that same rep. if your having this many problems. i'd might look for a new shop. There's a pretty good shop in Kaneohe behind windward mall I can't remember the name right now. it will come to me sooner or later. my parents and sister live in Kapolei. I am hoping to move back with in the year. the cold up here finally got to me after 8 years.

Aloha from the great white north

I'm trying to get a resolution to my problem. I have done everything that the Eclipse Fujitsu-Ten's Rep. has asked. Last month my stereo shop installed the original AVX2404 and hooked it to a separate headrest monitor to it. They said if the problem came back they would concede and replace my deck. One week after installation the headrest monitor went out while the AVX2404 remained on. (I have video of it going out)
My stereo shop has told me that they have been waiting for 3 weeks for the rep., because he insists that their product is not at fault.
If someone has any connections with EFT could you please have them look into this. Thank you.
