Does anybody have any information regarding the installation of a remote starter on a Mitsubishi Eclipse 2001? I have already bypass the clutch, but it will not remote start unless I insert the key in the ignition. Please help

You need to bypass the immobilizer that the Eclpise has to defeat the starter if the key is not in the ignition.

Yes, it's a transponder key that sends a signal to the ignition system to tell it to engage. If the key or the sinal is not present , then it will not engage the ignition system . You will to buy a transponder bypass kit and introduce a spare key into the ignition loop.

Which type of transponder bypass do I use? Is the second key really necessary?

There are many transponder bypass comanies out on the market but I haven't seen one yet that has developed a bypass module that the Mitsubishi can use without a key. We sell these transponder bypass kits for $ 25.00 or you can get them from this link : http://www.12voltshop.com/details.asp?prodid=TBK2&cat=13&path=1,13
