I have a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier and have installed a remote starter using the by pass kit Model IPP-ME.

It is the GM Passlock I.

It starts fine with the remote starter but once you open the door you cannot start it with the key.  If you start with the remote starter and get in the vehicle, close the door and then you can start it with the key. Once you open the door, you cannot start it with the key.

On occasion it goes into the "Long tamper Mode" and then you cannot start with the key or the remote starter. You have to wait 10  minutes.

Has anyone else installed a remote starter for a Chevrolet Cavalier using the GM Passlock I kit?

Thanks.

use DEI part number 555L, it works everytime, also make sure you hook up the bulb check wire and follow the installation manual. Also make sure you wires are not reversed. Good Luck!

re-check all connections, sounds like the door open and close prob is from the key-sense is it connected, only connect it if it shows ground when the key is in the cylinder and the doors or closed otherwise disconnect it....after rechecking everything, re program the bypass...start the car with the key for 10-15 secs then turn off.... try to remote start

Which wire would it be to check to see if it goes to ground when the key is in the cylinder and the door is closed? The diagram does not show it.
