I think once its cured your good to go.   My hood on my civic is fiberglass and it probably doesnt get as hot as a lava lamp but im sure its close. Imagine the heat of the engine on a 100 degree day with the sun shining down on it, sitting in traffic w/ no air flowing across it at all. Thats hot.

Also what does it look like?

How are you constructing it?

fiberglass burns very very poorly, they use fiberglass cloth to insulate some fire suits, and even fire places

thats stuffs all treated, fiberglass cloth is different than fiberglass as a whole, resin has a whole different reaction to heat, usually its fine but i dont know the exact boiling point but i know it WILL BURN, i've never seen one burst into flames though, my brother uses shop lights to dry glass faster for his rental business, usually the lights are about 4 or 5 inches away from the glass and the heat that comes out of those lights will burn your hand from that distance so its gotta be at least 200 to 300 degrees on the glass, i've seen it turn black and brown and start smoking like crazy but i dont think your lamp will burst into flames or anything, my suggestion is to take a lavalamp base put a therometer in there with it on and see how much it heats up, lay a flat sheet of glass just a little square or so and put this directly on top of the light, i'd say use the oven to recreate the same temp but if the glass melts the resin will wreak for days and days and probably never come out the smell is enough to drop a moose lol, anywho keep the temp gauge directly on the glasses back side or between the light and the glass on top and let the whole thing sit for like an hour keeping an eye on it with it in a safe place just in case , if that doesnt burn then your good to go, i'd really suggest using aluminum or somethin safer but if you want glass go for it.
