I doubt it would have much effect on the sound waves.  I figure spl does it for strength in their boxes.

we do fg insides for strength..it less of a hassel then ribbin the inside of the box..cuz u gota keep in mind out much cu ft the ribs are going to take up were as 1 or 2 layers of fiber will do a good job at keeping the structure ridged and not take up drastict cu ft...also a good way to insure that your box is 100% air tight....another thing about building a box is..using reflective angels in the box...a simple square box is going to keep and retain resin dead bass waves which will cancel out fresh waves and lower your db...i'll always make a box with complex corners and angels..and were i can't....i'll put some ribs in...just something to think about...

On this post I have heard differently about filling and ported enclosure with Polly Phil.  I have looked up the effects of padding a box or filling it with Polly Phil or some other substance.  If somebody would elaborate on this topic that would be helpful.  I also know that you can use any kind of namebrand amp that can be trusted to power sub.  I'm not saying that you're wrong I've just heard differently on this form.
