I am using a JL A1400 amp and Instead of using the remote turn on from the head unit, I am running a toggle switch so that I can turn the subwoofers off because I do not always want tons of bass (I listen to talk radio in the morning and do not always like loud bass on long road trips) Anyway, I was wondering what amperage fuse to install for the amp turn on lead? I will be pulling it off the ACC/ON iginition wire, however I still want to fuse this individual circuit instead of relying on the OEM fuse alone. Does anybody know the minimum required amperage?

A 5 amp fuse would be sufficient. That line is only for signal, very little currect flows through it.

I did an install like this for a friend, a couple years ago. I simply put the switch in the remote turn on line from the head unit and didn't bother with a fuse. That way it was fused by the head units fuse. So far he hasn't had a problem with it and it works flawlessly.

The current draw of an amp's remote turn on circuit is in the milliamp range. Thousandth's of an amp. a 1/2 amp fuse will work just fine too.

why can't you just turn down the bass on the radio.
