Okay, my sweetie's stereo in his 1993 Eagle Vision died a few months ago, and he hasn't replaced it yet. However, he almost fell asleep on his way home the other night, and I don't want that happening. I'm disabled, and it's taken me time to come up with the cash to get him a new one.
So, relatively inexpensive new stereo has arrived, and so has the adapter harness (Dynex DX-C1111). The harness (and original stereo) had 14 wires. The new stereo has 12. I'm not sure how to make this work, though I've connected the ones that I can tell should be connected. Matched the harness connectors to those of the original stereo and have the following leads:
--Vehicle harness mates to (labels on old stereo)--
BAT: Yellow
ACC: Red
ILL: ORANGE / white
PARK: Orange
RF-: Grey/black
LF-: WHITE/ black
MUTE: Brown
RR-: PURPLE / black
LR-: GREEN/ black
RF+: Grey
LF+: White
RR+: Purple
LR+: Green
ANT: Blue
--New Stereo's wiring diagram says--
Left Front Pos: White
Left Front Neg: WHITE/ Black
Left Rear Pos: Green
Left Rear Neg: GREEN/ Black
Right Rear Pos: Violet
Right Rear Neg: Violet/Black
Right Front Pos: Grey
Right Front Neg: Grey/Black
Memory: Yellow
Ground: Black
12Volt: Red
Amp/Power Ant: Blue/white
So far, I've got the 4 speaker pairs connected, and the antenna power. I'd rather not mis-connect the others, as it was enough of a financial stretch with my medical bills to get this stereo bought. I can't afford to pay for install, either. :(
Can someone give me a clear step by step list that I'll be able to understand even while dealing with chronic pain and fatigue?
Perhaps something like this for each wire remaining?
"Connect the vehicle harness Yellow (BAT) to the stereo Red (12 Volt)"
I'm sorry to have to ask what feels like a silly question, but I don't normally mess with wiring--I work with computers, and everything's already wired into the connector blocks. ;) Still, it's not that complex, if I knew which of these last few wires to hook together. I'd like to be able to present my sweetie with the in-dash mount kit (original is 1.5 DIN, new is 1 DIN), the stereo, and the harness that's pre-wired for his vehicle, so that it requires a minimal amount of time for him to install.
Any chance any of you kind souls can tell me which ones need to match up so I can make that a reality? I appreciate any help you can give me.

i think you are on the right track, match colors.

the mute and park wires just gonna have to cap them off,

under "general information" to the left in dark blue they may have you car in vehicle wiring database. if you get stuck check that out.

So if I connect the car's Yellow (BAT) to the stereo's yellow (Memory), the Red ACC to the red 12volt, that leaves me with:
Car:
Ill: ORANGE / white
PARK: Orange
MUTE: Brown
Stereo:
Ground: Black
Suggestions on which? I really don't want to fry this with incorrect connections. :p

i missed the orange and white, that would control the dimming, so if you dimmed your dash lights that would also dim the radio. not all aftermarket radios have that. cap it off also.

memory wire need to go to the battery, power wire needs to go to the acc

The beauty of the installation harness is that the wire colors are exactly the same as every aftermarket radio out there.  Connect red to red, yellow to yellow, black to black.  If the aftermarket harness has a wire color that the radio does not have, insulate it so the wire does not touch anything.  If the radio harness has a wire color that the harness does not have, insulate it so that wire does not touch anything.

What kind of problem was there with the original radio?  If it did not come on, there may be a blown fuse in one of the fuseboxes.

Ah, okay, wasn't sure that the colors were all supposed to match up. Thanks, and I'll file that away for future reference. :)
And...the old one had a short in it for quite a while, and finally started smoking one day while driving. Wiring in the car's fine, but I don't trust that stereo to test it.
I'll have these connections made and present him with a new stereo this weekend. :D Thank you all for your help!
