When replacing/changing alternators, how many wires are there to attach? Just 2, + and -, or are there others?

all cars are differnt...usually there is some kind of plug in the alternator that must be hooked up for different things in the car (Voltage gauge, low voltage light, etc...) but other than that there is the main power lead that goes to the battery...

most have a larger wire that goes to the battery, another wire that goes to ground and one more wire that goes to a voltage regulator, unless you have a GM car with only one wire where the voltage regulator is inside the alternator.
