radio/swc compatibility with bluetooth

i need to find a radio and steering wheel control package that will allow a friend of mine to use the factory bluetooth steering wheel buttons to answer the calls coming through on an after market radio. the truck is a 2008 chevy silverado, no factory nav but does have factory BT and factory sat radio. ive done a little homework and it seems that sony navigation units along with the PAC RP5-GM31 might allow this to happen. is this true and are there other radios i can use with this plug or some other plug so that he can answer calls using the steering wheel controls? thanks in advance guys

I think the Pac OS-4 will allow the factory Bluetooth to work. It treats the Bluetooth just as the OnStar, when either of those are used it powers down the radio and the BT or OnStar will work through the front left speaker.

ok i want to make sure it is clear what i want. basically for the steering wheel buttons will control the after market bluetooth radio. the factory bluetooth is not going to matter and besides even if the factory BT is still working you still wouldnt be able to interface with the radio to display the caller id and phone book, etc. thats why i would think it would be more practical to use the aftermarket BT and use the swc to answer the calls. and really that is all, i dont think he is concerned with being able to control any other BT features with the SWC, just answer and hang up.

I do not see any info on Pac's or Metra's swc that lead me to believe that they will answer or hang up via a wired remote. I will call both of them tomorrow and see what they have to say.

sweet, thanks. the reason i say that a sony might work is that i saw in one of the latest firmware updates says it adds BT control, and i can only assume that means through the steering wheel controls. I just got a new batch of Pac SWI-RC controls in yesterday. There is a sticker on the package that reads "Now offering Bluetooth Control for Sony and Kenwood"

so i wonder if it would work on a JVC since JVC owns Kenwood? but that is good to know about it being sony compatible. originally i wanted to try a sony until i found out they dont make a model with built in navigation, its only through a phone app now. kenwood makes a nice nav unit but the sound features are non existent compared to some other high end nav units. it seems like i can ever only get 2 out of 3.
