Ive got an 89 C1500 JVC headunit with Sound Ordinance 8" compact sub. When I dim my lights or hit the brights it kills the whole radio and sub. Now it never did this before so im not sure if my power cord is too close to my headlight wires or what. Opinions??

does that radio have a dimmer wire? if it does and its hooked up then i could see it being an internal problem with the JVC shutting off when the dimmer is activated.

What did you hook your remote turn on to? Did you chop your harness behind the radio?

The remote wire runs direct t my powered sub and i fried the radio 2 falls ago bought another jvc and just plug n played. The only difference on the harness was a bluetooth wire. I took my guages out for a swap, would this affect that at all?

When you say it kills the whole radio, does the radio turn off or does the sound quit?
How long has the radio been in the truck?
Did you ground the radio to the chassis of the truck, or did you use the ground wire from the vehicle. If you used the wire of the vehicle, what color was it?

I got it figured out no clue what was what. There was a lot of black tape and wires cut from the last guy and everything was red! So i had some tracing but after a while it worked went through all the lighting options and it never shut off. Thanks for the help!

Connect the radio's yellow wire to a constant 12 volt source. If we knew what kind of vehicle you had, we could probably tell you what color that wire is.

89 Chevy pickup. Well i traced the wires under the dash to what looks like a plug into a alum. Box but the red and orange wires were cut and spliced into two red wires. Basically everything is hard wired and hacked. It took me 2 hours to try to understand what wire was actually what
