Ugh. Wife's car. So the OEM junk/foam surround/plastic frame speakers in the rear deck gave out. One did. Surround came loose. Other played but it's death wasnt' far behind. So I get a 6 1/2" Goldwood under recomendation from an internet vendor. Dual 8ohm coils on each that I wire in parallel to make 4. It meters out fine. OEM had a coil/cap on the speaker that I moved over to new ones. Still metering out fine about 4.8ohms on each.   I think, cool. I spend all afternoon upsidedown and backwards in her trunk mounting them. Plugged into OEM harness. NEITHER PLAYS! Not a peep out of either of them. I disconnected and re measured, still about 4.8 ohms on each. What the heck am I missing here????   Anyone got a wiring diagram?

What did the OEM speakers measure? Are you sure they were not a difference impedance?

I'm sure. They measured out at 4 ohm and were labled as such also.

The impedance of the speakers doesn't matter in this case. Is there a factory amplifier? Is it on? Is the head unit muted?
