Sound issue in 03 Nissan Xterra

So I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra XE that I am having some audio issues with. It originally came with the factory 4 speakers. They went out and so over time when a speaker went out I just bought new ones. Here recently I bought the factory Rockford Fosgate Punch subwoofer for the cargo, wired it up to a small Rockford Fosgate Punch amp pushing maybe 75 watts RMS to that subwoofer I also rewired the subwoofer to be at 4 ohms. I had it all hooked up to my factory stereo with the RCA adapter next to the stereo. And here recently I went in and replaced the front speaker with boss audio, and the stereo with a Pioneer single din Bluetooth stereo. And now i get intermittent sound from the speakers. Every now and then they will work until there is a loud static noise and then the front speakers stop making sound. I've tried everything from swapping out speakers to radios to doing a complete rewire. And it still does it. It's been driving me crazy to get it fixed. Do anyone know what it could be and how it can be fixed?TheTexasBandit

There is a grounded speaker wire. Disconnect 1 speaker at a time until you find the one causing the problem. New radios have protection circuitry built into the output IC. Some radios tell you when they go into protect. The pioneer decks will occasionally say amp error bit I have seen the audio shut down without giving the error.

I'll give that a shot! I do know I hear a small static noise coming from one of the back speakers when I give power to the stereo. I think its the 2.5 inch speaker that goes with the subwoofer. I do know it's not the subwoofer or amp cause when I disconnect those I don't get any sound at all.TheTexasBandit

Get somebody to turn the radio on while you are in the back of the car to see which one it is. The one making the noise is the one that has a problem.

So, I managed to find the issue, apparently the little cardboard like tab that holds the speaker terminal broke off some how and was grounding on the magnet. Swapped the speaker out and it works perfectly now! I am surprised at the subwoofer for it being a little 8 inch it can pound! I'm thinking about stuffing the box next.TheTexasBandit
