a friend of mine has a 96 talon with the factory 6 speaker system ( not infiniti )  if all speakers were replaced, and crossed over properly, yet run off an aftermarket head unit, would running 4 front speakers off the 2 front channels of the head unit cause too much current draw from the internal amp.  from the factor would these front speakers we wired in series of parallel. or does that not matter with factory, bacuse they used reall high impendencd speakers ( 9.5) or whatever.   replacing each side with 2 4 ohm speakers would create either a 2 or 8 ohm load on that channel of the factory amp.   any ideas?

It depends on what kind of aftermarket head unit is going to be used.  Get one like the Pioneers with the MOSFET50 amp chip in there and they can run a 2-ohm stereo load just fine.  Actually back when they were the first company to come out with the MOSFET amp chips for head units, that was one of their main selling points--the fact that more than 4 speakers can be powered safely all by the head unit's built-in amp.

I've seen that done w/ a lot of head units.  Most of the well known brands are capable of such a thing, i just wouldn't do so w/out checking to make sure.  Most pioneer, clarion, sony, kenwood, and panasonic decks would work w/ that setup just fine.  Also if you're talking about a 6 speaker system that includes tweeters near the side windows i'd recommend scooping up a pair of component system crossovers and running one channel to each.  Good luck.
