I currently have a 1996 civic EX coupe with factory tweeter mounts on the top of the front doors.  I want to install a true component set and use the factory tweeter mounts.  The question I have is this, when I remove the 6.5 driver in the lower portion of the door there is a factory harness with 4 wires coming into a single plug ( 2 wires for the 6.5 and 2 wires for the tweeter.  All the wires are the same color for the positive and the negative, I can't determine from this plug which is for the 6.5 and the tweeters.  I do know that further up the door I heard that the tweeter wires change to red and blue.  I do not want to take off the door panel and trace the wiring if I don't have to.  Does anyone know for sure which is the tweeter wires by looking at the plug?  I can tell you that by looking at the plug there are 2 wires on top and 2 wires on the bottom.

Your going to have to take the door panel off regardless to dremel the baffle off the panel. It is too shallow for the Focal components to fit into the OEM location, so some dremeling is required. At this point you will see where the molex connector is for the tweeter.

well here is something you should try: first remove the kickpanel for your 6.5s. remove the speaker and you should see a harness that clips into the stock speakers, then you can follow these wires back, and figure out where they go, I believe in my car (00 civic EX) those wires are grey/orange and grey/blue. I think you should learn how to remove the door panel, because once you have access behind there you will totally see what is going on and everything will make sense. Unfortunately I can't tell you how because I have only watched people take off my door panels (the only thing I am still afraid of touching), but if anyone cares to tell us how that would be great!!!
