Im looking into these XTANT X1244 1000W 12" subs, they are 500 rms, 1000 max.  Has anyone had any encounters with these subs, they look pretty clean and are supposed to give great spl with good sq.  lets say compare them with the kicker comp vr's 12"? Im guessing these xtants would be the better sub, but thats just my opinion.  Anybody wanna give feedback?

i sell both speakers here.  xtant 's x series will spank on the compvr's.  much much better sound quality out of the xtant, with louder cleaner bass.  your guess is correct.  Just finished up a fat custom system in a new GTI, with two 10 x series, ported, in the back.  blew the customer away with how good it sounded. now, to compare the price point.  We all know that you get what you pay for, and in this instance, with a little extra bang out of the check book, a lot of extra bang in the vehicle.

the L7 is more of a spl speaker, but it also has pretty decent sound quality.  the L7 is small kine more expensive than the xtant (i guess depending on where you look for prices, but going off of my MAP pricing) and I think the Xtant will give you the clean sound that you are going for.  by the way, Xtant makes a kick ass amps.  Some of the cleanest I have ever heard.  You should check out those two, but THEY ARE EXPENSIVE, and rightly so.

I have a pair of X1244s in my hatch right now...been playing with boxes alot lately, and it is hard to make these subs sound bad...
they are a very clean woofer that will pound out the low notes if you tune them really low, and they sound good in almost any enclosure...I have had them from .75cu per woofer sealed to 2.8 cu ft per woofer port tuned to 28Hz...they will perform well in many different circumstances...and I have heard of a guy doing 150+ db with them in a really big ported box, but havent had the chance to try that out yet...
I have installed a few of these subs in other peoples cars as well, and I was purely amazed at the volume I got out of a pair of X1044s sealed in about .6 cu ft in the trunk of a convertible 95 mustang...and they spanked the low notes very well...so far they seem pretty durable too, I have been feeding mine around 700W RMS each for a long time without protest...
if you are getting them for a reasonable price, I would say grab them...they will annihilate a compVR both in SQ and volume...especially the new compVRs...
