i have a rockford db 1000a i am wondering what guage power wire is advised. i currently have 4ga but i want to know if i should upgrade to 2ga or even 1/0ga. the map is powering two infinity kappa perfect 12.1d if that makes a difference TIA

If you mean the Power 1000bd or 1001bd, then 4awg is the largest the amp will accept. You can go larger, but you will need either a 1-4awg adapter or 2-4awg adapter as well.

1/0 would be overkill IMO. 4awg will work, 2awg would work as well (with the adapter). As long as you only have that 1 amp running off of the 4awg then you should be fine. I'm running 1 Power 1000bd and 2 KAC-649S's from a 4awg main line right now. Mine needs to be beefed up, but that's more then just 1 amp running off of it. Check out The12Volts AWG guide

The Infinity KP 12.1D's are 4ohm DVC's, and RF doesn't make a 1ohm stable amp. Have you had any problems with clipping, or are you running them at 4ohms?

i dont currently have them hooked up i wanted to get everything right before i started. plus the amp hasnt arrived yet

With that amp you really want (2) 2ohm DVC subs. With (2) 4ohm DVC subs and a mono amp you can only wire into a 1 or 4 ohm total load. RF does not make a 1ohm stable amp, and you will cause that 1000bd to clip if you wire into 1ohm. At a 4ohm total load the Power 1000bd is only rated at 500 watts (250 per sub). Your subs are 350 RMS 1400 Peak. It shouldn't hurt them to run both at 250 per sub, but I don't think you'll get the "bump" that you're expecting. You could run only 1 sub wired at 2ohms (and 1000 watts), but I don't think that an Infinity KP 12.1D would last too long at that RMS level.

IMO you should have either gotten (2) 2ohm DVC subs to run with that amp, or a different amp that is 1ohm stable to run the Infinity KP 12.1D's.

well i hope to purchase two more in a couple months, so im just hoping to manage with these two until i save the money for the next two

post script. i check the subs again and they are not the DVC models so i should have no problem until i purchase more subs right? also do you know of any way to limit the rms at 2ohms on that amp i only want to run about 500w rms to the subs
