I am installing an aftermarket CD player in my 01 Chevy pickup.  I want to know where I connect in for 12v. power, both direct and switched.

There should be an orange wire(constant 12V) at the radio's wiring harness, and a green (switched acc 12V) there as well.

Thanks for the quick response.  I pulled the front of the dash off and removed the radio (a whole lot different than my old cars).  You are indeed correct there is a green and an orange wire connecting to the radio.  Do I connect in here or somewhere else?  If so am I to spice into the exsisting wires?  This is new terretory for me and I want to do it right.  I am not fimiliar with the wiring of todays cars.  I have a 55 chevy and a 56 chevy, much easier to work on.  How do the pros do it?

Thanks again,

DJ

You should just use a wiring harness from Best Buy or somewhere like that.

Wiring harnesses are the easiest and safest way to do it right. All colors on harness coincide with the wires on new deck.

The word of advice here is to buy yourself the proper wire harness adaptor from any number of companies like www.scosche.com, the wire plug is GM02 more than likely. The new plug is color coded to the wiring from the aftermarket cd player that you want to install, you will also need the dash kit and an antenna adaptor.
